{"id":2598,"date":"2023-02-20T12:34:55","date_gmt":"2023-02-20T12:34:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staging.caring-nature.com\/en\/?p=2598"},"modified":"2023-08-19T07:20:41","modified_gmt":"2023-08-19T07:20:41","slug":"how-to-master-your-inner-critic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.caring-nature.com\/en\/how-to-master-your-inner-critic\/","title":{"rendered":"How To Master Your Inner Critic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"q-text qu-display--block qu-wordBreak--break-word qu-textAlign--start\">\u201cAn inner critic<span class=\"q-inline\"><a class=\"q-box Link___StyledBox-t2xg9c-0 dFkjrQ puppeteer_test_link qu-cursor--pointer qu-hover--textDecoration--underline\" title=\"www.mindbodygreen.com\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mindbodygreen.com\/articles\/how-to-beat-negative-self-talk-by-identifying-your-inner-critic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">\u00a0<\/a><\/span>is simply that harsh voice that spews out negative and fear-based statements that keep you locked in repetitive cycles of pain or shame\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"q-text qu-display--block qu-wordBreak--break-word qu-textAlign--start\">We all have one, that inner voice telling us when our efforts were not good enough, or perhaps that we aren\u2019t\u2019 \u2018cool\u2019 enough, good-looking enough, successful enough, that we havent achieved enough \u2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"q-text qu-display--block qu-wordBreak--break-word qu-textAlign--start\">A lot of the\u00a0<span class=\"q-inline\"><a class=\"q-box Link___StyledBox-t2xg9c-0 dFkjrQ puppeteer_test_link qu-cursor--pointer qu-hover--textDecoration--underline\" title=\"staging.caring-nature.com\" href=\"https:\/\/staging.caring-nature.com\/en\/anxiety-and-depression\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">anxiety and depression<\/a><\/span>\u00a0that exists today is because this inner critic has worn you down so much, you believe everything that is tells you.<\/p>\n<p class=\"q-text qu-display--block qu-wordBreak--break-word qu-textAlign--start\">Workforces are holding back, choosing procrastination over progression because their fears of failure, something their inner critic is forever reminding them, gets in the way of real ambition to achieve their own goals, being told over and over they don\u2019t deserve it, or can\u2019t achieve it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"q-text qu-display--block qu-wordBreak--break-word qu-textAlign--start\">The truth though, is that all our anxieties from this inner critic is actually just trying to protect us from perceived threats \u2026 Usually coming from somewhere in our past where we\u2019ve been hurt before, and deep down we want to stop that happening again so anxiety gets in the way.<\/p>\n<p class=\"q-text qu-display--block qu-wordBreak--break-word qu-textAlign--start\">The first step in \u2018mastering\u2019 your inner critic is to identify this voice and bring awareness to it when it speaks to you \u2026 see some different types of an inner critic below<\/p>\n<p class=\"q-text qu-display--block qu-wordBreak--break-word qu-textAlign--start\">Can you identify yours?<\/p>\n<ul class=\"q-box\">\n<li class=\"q-relative\">Type 1: The Perfectionist \u2013 having incredibly high standards, perhaps unrealistic ones \u2026<\/li>\n<li class=\"q-relative\">Type 2: The Inner Controller \u2013 the fear of losing control is too much so all aspects of life need to be in check, in line, controlled.<\/li>\n<li class=\"q-relative\">Type 3: The Taskmaster \u2013 success is everything, there is no rest for the wicked \u2026<\/li>\n<li class=\"q-relative\">Type 4: The Underminer \u2013 your confidence is at an all-time low because fear holds you back moving forward with pretty much anything<\/li>\n<li class=\"q-relative\">Type 5: The Destroyer \u2013 not realizing your worth, you have low self-esteem and don\u2019t believe you are worthy of chasing your dreams<\/li>\n<li class=\"q-relative\">Type 6: The Guilt-Tripper \u2013 past experiences are always creeping back into your mind, reminding you off past mistakes, hoping to stop anything similar from happening again<\/li>\n<li class=\"q-relative\">Type 7: The Conformist \u2013 you conform to the norm to ensure you are loved and accepted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"q-text qu-display--block qu-wordBreak--break-word qu-textAlign--start\">The second step in \u2018mastering your inner critic\u2019, is that once you have identified which is yours, start to bring awareness to this inner critic. Notice when those thoughts are present, in what circumstances do they arise? Start to write some of the comments down, and then go back and review them. Can you challenge any of these comments? Confront what it is saying, and what it means, where is the truth at this moment about what anxiety has arisen?<\/p>\n<p class=\"q-text qu-display--block qu-wordBreak--break-word qu-textAlign--start\">A lot of our insecurities come from past experiences, so we have learned to feel anxious and fearful .. but by addressing our inner critic head-on we can find the situation in which we need to heal from it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"q-text qu-display--block qu-wordBreak--break-word qu-textAlign--start\">Compassion, kindness, and forgiveness are huge factors in healing. Forgiving yourself for the past.
